I always felt something special visiting the Hermitage Palace or Hermitage Hunting Lodge (DanishEremitageslottet or Eremitagen)  in Dyrehaven north of CopenhagenDenmark. Not so much the castle in itself, but the amazing grasslands around it. I think it is in our DNA from our Savannah ancestors 100,000 years ago to be attracted to the open fields with just a few trees scattered around.

This is my painiting of the castle and the field, on a blue cloudless summer day in late August 2013.

Fallen tree over a small pond

A few miles north of Copenhagen exist a beautiful botanical garden called Forstbotanisk Have - the first garden at this place was founded in 1799 and some trees are more than 300 years old.

My favorite place is this fallen tree over a small pond.

After passing by it day after day for 4 years I decided to paint the fallen tree.
